Headed to the Big 12 Championship Baby!

November 25, 2006 · 3 Comments

Oh yeah! Huskers and Sooners next Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium :)

The 2006 Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship returns to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Dec. 2. The 11th edition of the battle for the league title will be played at the home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs for the fourth time in league history in a venue that seats more than 75,000 fans

Oklahoma has won two of the three matchups played in the City of Fountains. The Sooners won the last contest there, posting a 42-3 victory over Colorado. Other games in Arrowhead were in 2003 (Kansas State 35, Oklahoma 7) and 2000 (Oklahoma 27, Kansas State 24).

OU has won the most Big 12 title games with three championships. Nebraska and Texas are the only other squads to win multiple crowns with two each, while Colorado, Kansas State and Texas A&M have one apiece. The Sooners have the most title game appearances with five, followed by Texas (4). Colorado, Kansas State and Nebraska are next with three appearances each.

The winner of the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship Game earns the league’s automatic berth into the Bowl Championship Series.

Funny Picture

I’m a big stealer from Lucianne. But in my defense, Ted is in the hospital and I’m just jetting out the door to spend the day there. He had surgery yesterday to debride an infection in the left elbow. The next couple of days will be spent taking antibiotics through his IV. Thanks for all friends and family praying for him!

In the meantime, this picture over at Lucianne just cracked me up :)

“Hey mom — I’m the third from the left — I think.”

Fox Reporters Freed for 2 Million bucks?

November 15, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’m sure they’re both great guys, but the idea of FOX funding terrorism is absolutely repulsive.

JERUSALEM – Palestinian terror groups and security organizations in the Gaza Strip received $2 million from a United States source in exchange for the release of Fox News employees Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig, who were kidnapped here last summer, a senior leader of one of the groups suspected of the abductions told WND.

The terror leader, from the Gaza-based Popular Resistance Committees, said his organization’s share of the money was used to purchase weapons, which he said would be utilized “to hit the Zionists.”

He said he expects the payments for Centanni and Wiig’s freedom will encourage Palestinian groups to carry out further kidnappings.

Officials associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party and its security organization, the Preventative Security Services, confirmed to WND money was paid for the release of the Fox News reporters.

A senior leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group, the declared “military wing” of Fatah, said the group received a small percentage of the $2 million, which all parties interviewed said was transferred in cash.

Way to stab Israel in the back FOX.

Fox source says it’s possible

A spokeswoman for Fox News Channel told WND she could not provide an official statement about whether Fox was aware of money paid to free its two employees.

A source at Fox told WND many parties were involved with the freedom of Centanni and Wiig, including the U.S. government, and that it was possible money was paid.

A State Department spokesman said his agency did not pay for the release of the Fox News employees.

The senior Committees leader and members of Fatah’s Preventative Security Services told WND that as part of the cash transfer, leaders of the Security Services pledged to ensure against further kidnappings of Americans in the Palestinian territories.

But the Committees leader balked at the promise.

“This is just so the Americans can turn the affair into a beautiful thing by saying they have a pledge,” said the terror leader.

“Maybe the Preventive Security Services took the promise but we didn’t. They have no way of enforcing it. The Palestinian groups can still kidnap Americans. Maybe for a short period the groups will not kidnap Americans to show respect for the promises, but if there is an escalation, we will not hesitate to kidnap Americans.”

The leader spoke three days after his organization and three other Palestinian terror groups signed a statement warning the U.S. is officially a target for Palestinian attacks, both in the region and abroad.

He told WND the cash transfers for the release of Centanni and Wiig likely will embolden Palestinian terror groups to carry out further abductions.

“This does encourage people to continue kidnappings,” said the terror leader.

I bet that hurt

Found this in the Wichita Eagle.

BY STAN FINGER
The Wichita Eagle

Maybe it was karma.

Three men attempted to kidnap a teenager in a dispute over stereo speakers shortly before 4:45 p.m. Monday, Wichita police reported. One of the three pulled out a gun and fired it at the teen in the 1000 block of South Wichita.

The shot missed the teen. The shooter jammed the gun back into the waistband of his pants… and it went off.

The bullet struck the 23-year-old man in his left testicle, causing him to cringe — which caused the gun to fire again.

The second shot struck him in the left calf.

He walked into Via Christi Regional Medical Center’s St. Francis campus seeking treatment, police said, and was later booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault and aggravated attempted kidnapping.

His companions, ages 18 and 20, were arrested for aggravated attempted kidnapping and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

What’s that saying? Stupid is as stupid does?

Kill two children and walk in 3

November 11, 2006 · No Comments

You’ve got to be kidding me.

DALLAS — A woman who drowned her two children in 2003 was released Friday from a state psychiatric hospital after a judge agreed with doctors that she is now mentally stable.

Lisa Ann Diaz drowned her 3- and 5-year-old daughters by holding their heads under water in the bathtub of their home in the Dallas suburb of Plano. Authorities said Diaz had self-inflicted cuts and stab wounds that she later said were an attempt to commit suicide to be with her daughters.

Diaz, tried only in the older child’s death, was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

This has to be defense attorneys at their finest:

Davis said he doubts the jury in Diaz’s case would have accepted the insanity defense if it knew she would be free two years later.

“What we are always told by defense attorneys is: `Don’t worry. She will be in the hospital for a long time — maybe the rest of her life. She’ll never pose a threat to society again,”‘ Davis said. “What this case shows us is this is not always true.”

Well, apparently one can murder two innocent children — Oh that’s right, in this country mothers are allowed to murder their children and get absolutely no time — as long as the said child hasn’t escaped the womb yet. I guess we’re just getting to the point to where even outside the womb — society fails the innocent.

Liberals would stand up for the rights of terrorists before defending innocent children. I’d be curious as to what political party this judge belongs to. Seriously.

Judge Mark Rusch on Thursday ordered Diaz’s release from the Big Spring State Hospital, where she has been for more than two years. He agreed with doctors that the 36-year-old was stable enough to continue treatment for schizophrenia on an outpatient basis.

UPDATE: Below is a quote resulting from the good judge. Still looking though.

“Smarter people who are looking for a better way. Rational people, intelligent people, fairly well-educated people who recognize that the courtroom is about the worst place to resolve a dispute, especially when there are kids involved. People who are sufficiently mature to realize they can’t live together, but they need to make rational decisions about property, debt division, and the kids, and not turn it into a war. People who are truly interested in what’s best for the kids – generally, these are the folks who are genuinely committed to staying involved in their children’s lives. Those who want to fight and punish someone don’t go the Collaborative Law route – they go to court.”
–Collin County District Judge Mark Rusch

A Victory for the Dems = Happy times in Iran

November 10, 2006 · No Comments

Once again, Allah seems to be all over this theme too. I love the first comment posted on the HotAir thread:

Are you listening Dems? The enemy loves you.

CrimsonFisted on November 10, 2006 at 10:47 AM

As I’ve stated before and before, I would be very concerned if the political party I belonged to was embraced by our sworn enemy. But, I think the Dems think of it as a compliment.

This article is not shocking to those of us with a brain, who realize who the enemy is … but I’m sure thanks to the MSM, some people will be surprised, while others probably happy. I mean, the left hates our country so much, many of them are probably looking for a sign up sheet to help. Especially media whore-monger Cindy Sheehan.

DUBAI - Al-Qaeda’s Iraq branch has threatened to “blow up the White House” in the course of establishing an Islamic caliphate which has started with the proclamation of an Islamic state in Iraq, in an audio message by its chief posted Friday on the Internet.

“We announce today the end of a phase of the jihad (holy war) and the start of a new one … to usher in the project of an Islamic caliphate and restore Islam’s glory,” Abu Hamza al-Muhajer said in the message.

“We swear we will not rest from our jihad … before blowing up the filthiest house, dubbed the White House,” he said.

I wonder if the Dems will ever understand that you can never negotiate with blood thirsty terrorists. Even if you give them what they claim to want — they still want to kill us. Then again, communism killed hundreds of thousands, and the Dems love that form of government.

“The American people have taken the first step on the right path in order to get out of their impasse and have started to realize the treachery of their president and his subordination to Israel, voting for a measure of reason in the latest elections,” Muhajer said.

“I tell (Bush): don’t hurry to flee like your defense minister (Donald Rumsfeld, who resigned Wednesday). We have still not quenched our thirst for your blood.”

Well you Islamofacist pig — I have taken no such steps toward what you call the right path. The only thing treacherous regarding my President is that he has not allowed our troops to bomb every mosque you hide your cowardly face in. I’m sure we are saving a special MOAB just for you. Zarqwari liked running his mouth too — and one caught up with him.

Chavez gloating? Say it ain’t so!

November 9, 2006 · 5 Comments

Thanks to Allah over at HotAir. Seriously, not that it would ever happen, but if I were a DemonRat … this would bother be:

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez yesterday led a global chorus of Bush administration critics gloating over the outcome of Tuesday’s midterm elections, but some foreign leaders expressed concern over what the Democratic victory will mean on issues such as global trade and the Middle East.

I mean, when I have communist dictators singing my praise — I switch parties, or, something. What’s crazy is that this doesn’t phase the demonRats. Apparently they are not ashamed of their one world communist agenda.

Latin American populists, European leftists and Islamic fundamentalists were all quick to point to the U.S. vote as a repudiation of Mr. Bush’s aggressive, go-it-alone approach on Iraq and the global war on terror.

Did you catch that list? Latin American populists, European leftists, and Islamic fundamentalists? And the go-it-alone approach? Blatant lie — we have dozens of allies.

The Democratic sweep ranks as “the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world,” 200 members of the Socialist bloc in the European Parliament declared in a joint statement yesterday.
Said Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema, “A cycle has ended. The cycle of pre-emptive wars, of unilateralism, ends in great failure.”

One man’s nightmare is another’s knight in shining armour. Then again, 200 members of the Socialist bloc in the EU would be to stupid to realize this.

As for Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema, well until Italy loses over 3000 innocent civialians in one day — murdered by Islamic Jihadists, he should just shut his pie hole.

Informed of Mr. Rumsfeld’s resignation as he was speaking, Mr. Chavez said, “Heads have started to roll. The president should resign on moral grounds, and Rumsfeld should go to jail.”

Sorry sucker, we don’t take suggestions from communist dictators.

Iran’s state-controlled television said in a commentary that U.S. voters were rejecting “Bush’s wrong strategy in the Middle East,” as well as “financial corruption in the United States.”

State-controlled television … well … one could argue that the MSM …. we won’t go there.

Sudan, which has clashed with the United States over the humanitarian crisis in its Darfur region, is hoping for “relations of cooperation, not confrontation” with the chastened U.S. administration, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs al-Samani al-Wasiyla said.

Are you getting the theme? Dictators and socialist governments are pleased with our election results. The demonRats have been in love with communism for decades. Maybe now that they’re in charge we could declare a new national holiday … let’s say … Uncle Joe Stalin day? Maybe we could blend it with Jihad day. Don’t feel like participating? Heads will roll … literally. I’m sure it’s already on their list of things to do.

Okay, enough’s enough but this, this is the icing on the cake:

A spokesman for Mexican President Vicente Fox said the Democratic gains could soften the U.S. stand in talks on illegal immigration.
“We hope this new makeup of Congress can be a catalyst for the U.S. government working toward a migration reform with the characteristics proposed by Mexico,” spokesman Ruben Aguilar said.

At first I was all excited that the actual term illegal immigration was used, but then the wind left my sails as I continued reading … migration reform.

Oh well, just a matter of time and the adults will be in charge again.

A gunner’s nighmare

November 9, 2006 · No Comments

Can you imagine how terrible the artillery troops who fired the shells at Beit Hanun yesterday must be feeling now?

No, I cannot imagine what it would be like to be forced to defend my homeland from terrorists who fire rockets indiscriminately at innocent civilians from their own civilian neighborhoods.

In response to Kassam rocket attacks on southern Israel following the IDF withdrawal from the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanun on Monday, gunners were ordered to “fire at the source” - the spots from which the rockets were launched.

The Palestinian terrorists firing at civilian targets in Ashkelon, Sderot and other communities in the western Negev must know that the IDF can and will retaliate, and respond swiftly and strongly.

Oh, they know alright and that’s why they do it. Because they are evil to the core and have no reverence for human life whatsoever.

Both Hamas and Hizbullah, in the case of Lebanon, were quick to call both attacks “massacres” and yesterday a Hamas spokesman reiterated that Israel should cease to exist.

Apparently, they are all too willing to sacrifice their own in order to destroy Israel. Now my friends, that is hate.

There’s a key difference between the Hamas and Hizbullah fighters and Israel’s. They intentionally fire rockets at civilian targets, hoping for maximum casualties and damage.

We don’t. The artillery troops who fired shells at Beit Hanun yesterday weren’t hoping to hit civilians. They were targeting terrorists firing rockets.

Of course, CNN is as stupid as ever:

A CNN interviewer asked the prime minister’s spokeswoman, Miri Eisin, for her response to suggestions that Israel was using “a sledgehammer to crack a nut.”

Eisin, like other Israeli spokespeople, was very apologetic for the “tragic mistake.” And rightly so.

How about a sledgehammer to crack thousands of nuts? Then, a sledge is necessary. As for the tragic mistake – that would need to be blamed on the terrorists who fired the rockets at Israel, now wouldn’t it?
