This post is categorized under media bias for a reason. Not that I have any hope for the msm, but if they are allowed to behave this way in Wyoming, a small populated, mostly Republican state, then there really is no hope for them.
Tieki Rae did a much better job than the Casper Star Tribune. I think it was a mistake for the WY GOP to allow the press such access to the process. Of course, if they don’t, then the press refers to them as secretive.
CASPER, Wyo. – More than two dozen aspirants to Wyoming’s vacant U.S. Senate seat staked their ground as fiscal and social conservatives during a public debate Sunday, saying they would rein in federal spending, reform the Endangered Species Act and defend conservative values if chosen to succeed the late Sen. Craig Thomas.
Really? Let’s take this literally? I was there, and the jest of what the candidates said was that they would work towards doing those things — I don’t recall anyone claiming that they could personally achieve these goals going at it alone.
At times, the Republican candidates took shots at the current Congress _ and even their own party _ saying that lobbying and earmarks have helped corrupt the system.
I know that one particular candidate stated that corruption was a bi-partisan problem. Does the Tribune mention that? No. Just that the candidates were taking shots at their own party.
State Sen. Cale Case of Lander said he thinks Congress needs to tackle lobbying reform.
I personally just want Congress to stop taking bribes. I worry about the people’s access to Congress when the term lobbying reform is used. Sometimes I think that Congress would love to silence the people by lobbying reform, instead of just being accountable for their own individual actions/corruption.
Asked about wolves, former Wyoming GOP Chairman Tom Sansonetti said they were an example of what’s wrong with the Endangered Species Act; Platte County Republican Party Chairman Randall Stevenson said: “Shoot ‘em!”
Not that many ranchers don’t feel like that — but this was said in jest and the audience laughed. The Tribune would have us believe that this was a serious moment. Believe me, the left around here will take that remark and run with it.
The entire article can be read here, but it really isn’t worth your time.
Why are your candidates debating, when the Governor is just going to appoint one of them?

Hi Kevin,
They really are not debating — that’s just a term used by the media because they are so incompetent.
The WY GOP Central Committee is busy figuring out where each candidate stands on issues so that they can choose 3 names to submit to the governor — then he appoints from the list given to him.
Does this help?

Wy, they are probably trying to develop a little grass roots support to influence the central committee too. ……steve

Steve.
I was shocked last night to see one of the Candidates had a campaign commercial on TV last night — now that I check Tieki’s post from the candidate forum, I see that it was Gray. His commercial stated that he had no intention to run in 08′. After speaking with a voter on the Central Committee, it seems that they have no intention of putting anyone on that list of three that will not be running for re-election next year. They want an incumbent that can win the seat.
