Comment of the Week!

July 13, 2007 · 19 Comments

Well, I have to admit, I have plenty to choose from. What a crazy blogging week. Once again, ALL comments are appreciated (except for the porn spam crap) but there can only be one winner per week. Well, actually, there’s more than one winner because you guys are suppose to post a favorite comment from your own blog here too. Remember? Okay, please feel free to link back to your post and even to the commenter’s post.

Alas, I have to make a decision, and this one just made me chuckle. I love it when Velvethammer starts schooling the trolls that come along. And school she did in the Happy Independence Day thread:

Marcas - If only you’d allow other countries to have independance (sic) too!

Pardon me, but you have a lot of nerve dissing the US when all the while you support chavez. What hypocrisy.

And if you feel the need to question our love for watermelon, then you will never get it, and must not have ever eaten it. watermelon.jpg

I mean the girl tops it off with a smiley rolling its eyes :) . How great is that? I am very thankful for the good blogging friends I have that help keep the trolls in check.

Now, get busy and come back with your favorite comments left on your own blogs. I know they’re out there because I’m reading them everyday.

Happy Friday kids!

Aww.. thanks so much Tammi! I am honored. :D

My pick of the week goes out to Cigar Jack which he left on my “When Silence Speaks Louder Than Words” post.

    Cigar Jack

I’m amazed at how Islam gets a free pass in the media. It is the Religion of Peace though, what you really need to worry about is Evangelical Christians. They might blow something up… oh wait…

  • wytammic // July 13, 2007 at 1:45 pm

    Hi Velvet!

You are welcome. That watermelon comment just makes me smile :)

Cigar Jack got confused for a sec ;) Great comment to bring over. I, too, am amazed at the free pass the religion of peace gets with the msm. When’s the last time any of them were kidnapped by Christians? :)

Hope your weekend is out of this world terrific V!

  • velvethammer // July 13, 2007 at 1:51 pm

Back at ya my friend! You have a great weekend too!

BTW Come on over, I have some fresh cut watermelon in my fridge. Just don’t tell marcas, he is not worthy.
    lol

Not worthy indeed. Watermelon is right up there with baseball, hotdogs, applepie, and GMC. :)

    Watermelon-watermelon-watermelon rind
Look at the scoreboard, and see who’s behind!
    Yeeeeaaaaaaaaah Velvet!!

You and Ted were just off topic with the motorcycle talk :) . At least I think you were, I can’t even remember what the topic was now?

  • Neil // July 13, 2007 at 3:05 pm

    Hi Tammi,

Bridget just graced my Health Insurance stuff post with this comment regarding health care and the Constitution:

“States are intended to be laboratories of experimentation; please do not mess up the entire country. Confine the nuttiness to one state.”

Hi Neil — did Bridge say which state the nuttiness should be confined to? Maybe we should vote?

  • Angel // July 13, 2007 at 3:11 pm

    watermelom..yummmmmmmmm! :)

Hi Angel — I’m sure Velvet won’t mind if you come along. We’re having watermelon at her place tonight! ;)

  • Scott // July 13, 2007 at 3:34 pm

Man alive, people were vying to make it onto your COTW post this week, including you, A BUNCH! After a long deliberation, I finally came to the conclusion that this comment on my I Got Tagged by You and Need to Spread the Joy post was the winner:

Wow! I’m amazed with the people you actually know on your blogroll. I think I know one on mine. I’ll let you guess which one :) .

Besides Tieki Rae, I don’t follow or know of any other WY bloggers. I really need to check out your blogroll and those people really need to comment more!

Your comment won because it is promoting diversification of commentating on my blog. I have to admit, I’m a little hung up on the phrase “…don’t know of or follow any other Wyoming bloggers…” I presume you were exempting me along with your daughter from the “any other” category? :-)

BTW, don’t forget today’s the day to vote for your fave photo!

Hi Scott — I know! Crazy blogging week for me. Don’t have the photo contest without me. I think Ted wants to go to a movie tonight. Do I have until midnight mountain time? Hopefully we will be finished eating watermelon at Velvet’s by then :)
Oh, and I think I was exempting you along with Tieki. Because, I do follow your blog :)

  • Neil // July 13, 2007 at 4:46 pm

Bridget didn’t give examples, so I dropped in a couple in my response:

“Ha! Best line of the day. Hello, California / Massachussetts? We’re looking in your direction!”

There is just one problem: Those just happen to be her home and current states! Luckily for me, she is the forgiving type and has a great sense of humor. Right, Bridget? (I don’t want her to break out a can of Libertarian whoop-A on me).

LOL! I was thinking the same thing — I think she has probably faced the fact that her states qualify as the nuttiness containment probabilities :) We love you Bridget!!! Okay, I might be gone for the evening. You guys have fun :)

  • theobromophile // July 13, 2007 at 4:55 pm

    ROTFLMAO!

The Velvet/watermelon quote is great stuff!

I haven’t found my contribution to CotW, but I just did:

I don’t want her to break out a can of Libertarian whoop-A on me.

    There is also:

Wait, since when did these guys even believe in Satan? I thought he was just one of those quaint urban legends Christians made up to scare people. Does that mean they believe in God too, or is this just more pointless gobbletygook they’re “sending out into the Universe””?
I wish I could send them out into the Universe.

    Or

To be precise, the law is kicking my ass like a one-legged stepchild with ringworm.

    Or, from TT,

Heck if you post yours I’ll post mine.

Oh, I love it Bridget! This is what Comment of the week is all about!

  • theobromophile // July 13, 2007 at 4:55 pm

Yes, yes, I do think that the Union would be much better off if Massachusetts and California were declared haz-mat zones.

I was hoping you’d be in agreement :)

  • no2liberals // July 13, 2007 at 6:16 pm

Henh…if Ted and I were OT talking about scooters on a dead thread, then I stand guilty as charged.
I hope you and Ted have a most excellent weekend, and remember….Life Is Sweet!
    /you better show Ted

How does one link get caught in the spam filter? What have you done to cause my spam filter not to trust you? On second thought, don’t answer that :)

  • no2liberals // July 13, 2007 at 6:17 pm

    *SIGH*
    Check your spam filter!

It doesn’t even go to the moderation queue — straight to the trash with your comments. Baffling.

    Did someone mention watermelon?? Mmmmmm

n2l nominates this gem from SwampWoman

“Political leaders” and “courage” are not words that belong together very often in the same sentence unless courage is prefaced by “lack of”.

And speaking of politicians, I have to guiltily admit that I’m gleefully looking forward to the Pelosi versus Sheehan Death Cage Match in the next congressional election cycle (which I am far too lazy unmotivated to look up).

I imagine there will be a whole lot of terrorist gropery going on from both far left and left reality so third world dictators, you just might want to clear your itineraries of various murders, tortures, theft, and oppression of citizens in order to appear on television getting a lap dance from the candidates.

Swampwoman should wind up on this thread every week!

  • Scott // July 13, 2007 at 9:41 pm

Favorite spam comment of the week (month, year, decade….):

Hi. dear webmaster i like your site.

There were a bunch of commenters, errr, spamers that thought the same thing, so the prize doeswn’t go to just one….

Oh Scott, that’s sweet not to leave the spammers out :) lol. I mean, they’re somebody’s children too, right?

  • Scott // July 13, 2007 at 9:44 pm

BTW, Yes, the FPQ deadline is based on the Mountain Time Zone

I’m home from the movies, but have already cast my vote. I’ll be over in a second to check it out. I hope I won.

  • nuke // July 13, 2007 at 9:50 pm

    n2l adds another…
“I’m not sure whether or not fatwahed is a word. I better consult my Imam for guidance. Oh wait, I don’t have one. It will have to be my Magic 8 Ball. Magic 8 Ball said without a doubt. Magic 8 Ball knows all. When I asked if I should quit my job and live under a bridge, Magic 8 Ball said it didn’t think so. When I asked Magic 8 Ball if I should dance nekkid in the moonlight in my front yard, it said yes, which just goes to show it is not infallible.

    Jul 11, 7:38 PM”

Oh this one had me rolling on the floor laughing when I read it the other day. What’s funny, is I wouldn’t put it past her really having a magic 8 ball. ;)

  • no2liberals // July 13, 2007 at 10:37 pm

Thanks for pulling my comment out of the filter. I hate reaching in through the worlds fastest indian and the yanex myself, but there you have it.
I hope you showed the pic to Ted.

The world’s fastest indian — isn’t that some motorcycle movie?

  • theobromophile // July 15, 2007 at 1:10 pm

Tieki Rae on abortionists, pro-euthanasists, etc:

If they weren’t such murderous idiots, we wouldn’t even have to worry about strategies.

I know Bridget — when that girl gets on a roll, she really gets on a roll!

  • theobromophile // July 16, 2007 at 2:01 pm

She’s fantastic. That line does a great job of cutting through all of the crap surrounding the pro-death (whoops! pro-choice) “debate.”
