Happy Tedster

Okay, this is one happy man today. Ted has wanted a Harley for years and today was his day. We found a 2001 1200 Custom Sportster on our way to the post office this morning. I had to send a package to Tieki Rae, so her dad owes her big time! If not for that package needing to be mailed, we might have missed Ted’s dream bike:)

He just sold his Goldwing this week because it was a little heavy to move around since his elbow injuries. This bike has a big motor, yet is lighter weight to maneuver.

Congrats Ted!

I couldn’t resist putting the last picture up of Ted and his riding buddy checking things out ;)

  1. While Ted and I prefer different types of bikes, I think we can both agree on one thing…four wheels suck!
    /henh
    Be safe and ride on.

Well no2liberals, you can imagine his joy then. I’m in the process of uploading some better shots — minus the lawnmower!

  2. Good for him! That looks like a great bike. My wife would never let me get one, which is probably a good thing. I’m way too careless with things like that.

Good for your wife Neil. I guess when something like this is in their blood, it’s just much easier to give in and let them ride. I agree with your wife, not my kind of vehicle. As you know, we’ve had a traumatic year, and you only live once, and then forever. So, I just leave it in God’s hands. I’ll be sticking with those sucky 4 wheels though!

  3. Did you show Ted that pic I sent the other night, that had to be fished out of the filter?
    /better say yes

Ya dang tootin I showed it to him! Why? Do you think we should try that with the Sportster? :)

  4. woohoo nice one Wy!..now tell him to beeeeeeeeeeee careful eh?..grinz*

    Thanks Angel! Oh, he’ll be careful — that’s rule number 1 :)

  5. Nah, can’t do that kind of stuff on the Sportster.
    /not intentionally

Lol — he did laugh when he saw the picture this morning. He said to let you know that he has no regrets selling the GoldWing and buying the Harley :)
He’s been planning a long road trip down to TX for a couple of months now. I’m glad he now has a bike to take. And, I’m glad I won’t be riding on the passenger seat of that thing ;)

  6. I thought it was a very sweet pic.
Yeah, I’ll bet you won’t get caught on that seat for nothin’, not now.

  7. {I’ll bet you won’t get caught on that seat for nothin}

Standing in McDonalds doesn’t make you a hamburger!

  8. Ted will like that bike much better than a Sportster. Good choice, and have fun!

  9. Jeffro

    I bought a Sportster….?

    No regrets bro…

  10. Ted
    Ha!
    C’est vraie!
Now, you need to scan the list of goodies from Screaming Eagle, to add some performance, but then, that just might be my tendency.
Getting used to the new geometry and a thinner front tire, will require saddle time. So why are you reading this?

    He’s out riding :)

  11. I’m not much of a gear head but that sure looks like a cool bike!
I’m with neils wife, I’m not too allowing of jeff riding a bike :) But it would be a new thing for him, not something I married into :)

Hi MZ — I have to admit that I did marry into it. Hope you are feeling better!

  12. Wy……looks pretty good from here. I remember the days I have a Triumph 650cc………Congrats to Ted………steve

Thanks Steve! Yes — Ted is very excited. He’s had a heck of year and it’s nice for him to be able to have a little fun for a change.

  13. Congrats on the new bike!

Thanks lifelemons! He has a little bit to get done on it before he takes off on his big trip to TX in September — but we have a little time to figure out where the money will come from :) ?!

  14. Congrats, now try not getting killed on that dangerous thing.

Hi TT — no worries, I have warned him!

  15. hiya Wy!….hope he’s havin the time of his life hun! :)

He is Angel! By the way, I love this post. Which should confirm that I won’t be sporting much Harley attire :)

  16. Here’s a little shout-out to Ted, from a Texan.

  17. Ted: sorry, typing w/o thinking – I had the 883 in mind. The 1200s just plain run better.

Hey Jeffro — Yeah, Ted is going to be taking this one down the road quite a bit so he wanted the 1200 motor.

PS. Have you been getting your mail promptly? ;)

  18. Ted
    Thought you might like that.

As our good friend from TX always says: Don’t mess with Texas. :)

  19. Zowie! What a sweet ride!

Get on your bad motorcycle and ride!

I have always said, there aint nothin’ like the sound of a Harley.

Have ridden on a few myself.
Once upon a time, I was foolish enough to jump on a hot one, wearing shorts. Burned my calf big time. Ouch! 8O

BTW Thanks for updating my link Tammi! :)

You are certainly welcome! Hey — I registered for a conservablog! Not sure all the work it will entail, but hopefully can figure it out.

  20. As our good friend from TX always says: Don’t mess with Texas.

Especially when he’s listening to a bottleneck guitar.

  21. Hey — I registered for a conservablog

Cool! Another friend has joined in. I believe that Lord crimson and Grit have registered too. If I am not mistaken.

Yes Velvet — It should be a party!

  22. Wytammic: Yep, I’m not here all the time to get it, but it’s always there! Saw your Dad at Medical Heights – both of us getting our tickers checked. He’s always been an enjoyable person to chitchat with.
